The 2024 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup is the 9th edition of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, a Twenty20 International (T20I) tournament contested by men’s national teams and organized by the International Cricket Council (ICC). The tournament is being co-hosted by the West Indies and the United States from June 1 to 29, 2024.

Format

The tournament features a group stage followed by a Super 8 round and a knockout stage. The 20 participating teams are divided into four groups of five teams each. The top two teams from each group advance to the Super 8 round, where they are further divided into two groups of four teams. The top two teams from each Super 8 group qualify for the knockout stage, which includes two semi-finals and a final.

Teams and Qualification

The top eight teams from the 2022 tournament and the two hosts, West Indies and the United States, qualified automatically. The remaining two automatic qualification places were taken by the best-ranked teams in the ICC Men’s T20I Team Rankings that had not already secured a place in the finals. The remaining eight places were filled through regional qualifiers, including teams from Africa, Asia, Europe, the Americas, and the East Asia-Pacific groups.

Squads

The teams have announced their squads for the tournament. The first team to announce its squad was New Zealand on April 29, 2024, followed by England, India, and South Africa the next day. The deadline for squad submissions was May 1, 2024, and all teams had announced their squads by May 24, 2024.

Group Stage

The group stage fixtures were announced on January 5, 2024. The opening match between the United States and Canada was played on June 1, 2024, at the Grand Prairie Stadium in Texas.

Warm-up Matches

Warm-up matches were played from May 27 to June 1, 2024, involving most of the tournament teams. Pakistan, England, New Zealand, and South Africa did not participate in warm-up matches and played directly in the group stage.

Broadcast

The tournament will be broadcast through various rights-holders, including BBC Radio for the UK, Channel 2 Group Corporation for India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, and the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region, and Big Talk 106.2 FM and 100.3 FM for the UAE.

Venue

The tournament will be played across various venues in the West Indies and the United States. The Long Island stadium, Nassau County International Cricket Stadium, will host the India–Pakistan group stage match, a highly anticipated match between two of the sport’s biggest rivals.
